Former U.S. Diplomat

Edward Salazar, a former U.S. diplomat, is an independent international affairs consultant, analyst, and lecturer based in Budapest. He has advised on international branding and development efforts, consults regularly on matters of diplomatic practice and policy, and is actively involved in training and educating young international professionals at Budapest’s National University of Public Service. Ed spent much of his diplomatic career amidst the politics and diplomacy of the Cold War, serving three times in Moscow—the first time witnessing the collapse of the USSR from Embassy Moscow; then heading State’s Ukraine desk; and later working at NATO in Brussels. Upon leaving the Foreign Service, Ed taught at the Foreign Service Institute in Washington, where he prepared and delivered seminars for senior diplomats and government executives on the pressing global challenges to diplomacy in the 21st century.
