Christine Gregoire, a Democrat, was the first female governor of Washington to win re-election and the second female governor in the state’s history. As governor from 2005–2013, she helped pass landmark legislation in the areas of education and the environment. She also served as the National Governors Association chairwoman for the 2010–2011 term, and as a skilled negotiator, she spent three terms as state attorney general. Currently she is the CEO for Challenge Seattle, an organization of 18 major international companies and nonprofits, and serves on the boards of several councils, research centers, and advisory committees. On a more personal note, Christine is a graduate of the Harvard Executive Management Program and has been married to her husband, Mike, for over 40 years.
